The Saints come visiting..How will they be received? MUFC-Southampton preview!

Lambert is at Old Trafford tonight

In the reverse fixture at St Mary's, the South Coast side almost pulled off a major shock scoring first against heavyweights, Manchester United and then going on to lead 2-1 with 3 minutes to play, until Robin Van Persie in his only his 2nd start for the red devils, stole the show with a brilliantly taken brace to add to his early strike. 3-2 it ended in favour of the League leaders.  Adkins' led team also played an excellent match v defending champions, Manchester City and were again hard done by ill-luck and lack of experience, losing the match by the same scoreline (3-2). Only Arsenal blew them away (6-1). They played out an impressive 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge despite trailing 2-0 at the break. Ricky Lambert has come up big for them once more, with 10 premier league goals to his name. His 31 spot-kicks have all flown into the net and as it is, he has the best penalty conversion rate anywhere in the world. Sir Alex has suggested, albeit indirectly, that WAYNE ROONEY should borrow a leaf from the 30 year old marksman. The United no 10 has lost 10 of his 27 penalties taken for the red army and has been temporarily relieved of his duties. Uruguay's Gaston Ramirez hasn't been at his best it seems. Luke Shaw has shown amazing quality beyond his years, shinning like a million stars in his left back role. Jason Puncheon has punctured Manchester United and Chelsea this season and would have to be closely watched so he doesn't get used to deflating the big wigs. Another player Vidic and company must keep an eye on is Morgan Schneiderlin. The towering holding midfielder scored against them at home and has headed in two from two this season. Considering MUFC's defensive woes this campaign, that is a concern.

There's a new Sheriff in Town. Ex-Espanyol manager, Mauricio Pochettino is the new man in charge of Southampton. Appointed by Chairman, Nicola Cortese after the very surprising dismissal of Nigel Adkins (which left the football World in other dumbfoundment), the Argentine has found himself in new surroundings and has tries to get used to it. A good start to his managerial career at St Mary's as his boys made Everton work for a 0-0 draw. Tonight it is Manchester United.
RVP: the main threat tonight

Manchester United are not top of the Premier League by accident. They have played out of their skins this season. Despite conceding so many goals, they have also scored more than any other team in the League. The pacesetter has been Robin Van Persie, whose goal v Spurs 10 days ago made him the only player in Premier league history to score 10 away goals in 3 consecutive seasons. His 22 goals have all been World Class and worthy of gracing any Championship on the planet. The return of Nemanja Vidic, the improvement of Rafa da Silva, the maturity of Jonny Evans, the industry of Tom Cleverley, the excellence of Michael Carrick, the inspiration of Ryan Giggs, the Leadership of Patrice Evra, the sagacity of Rio Ferdinand, and indeed the endeavour of Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez have all been of enormous help to Fergie's charges. The whole team has played absolutely fantastic and this is down to teamwork, unity, and the burning desire to reclaim what is rightfully theirs (The topflight domestic crown). No matter the threat Southampton pose, the red devils will be expected to glide past them with ease. It may be daunting and nail biting.

After the Doha trip, MUFC bamboozled Fulham in a dominant display that saw Ryan Giggs scoop yet another 'man of the match' award. The man is evergreen. 40 in November, his energy levels are still high and the hunger to succeed is even more obvious. Wayne Rooney is slowly and steadily returning to that remarkable form that put him in the 2011 FIFPRO WORLD 11 and the 5th best player of the aforementioned year. Between Rooney-RVP-CHICHARITO-and-Welbeck, 47 goals have been scored. Danny haul of 1 goal is not pleasing..but his all round display, especially in the last 2 EPL games against Liverpool and Spurs have well been exceptional.

Today, at the Theatre of Dreams, Manchester United have it all to do if they want to restore their 7-point lead over Manchester City who drew away at QPR last night and lost Balotelli to A.C Milan. It has been a thorny last few hours for Mancini.

Manchester United have won the last five meetings v the Saints at home and only failed to win 18 years ago when MR ERROR TAIBI gifted the Legendary Matt Le Tissier a goal in a 3-3 draw. Today is expected to be a happy/victorious one for the League Leaders who are on a 12-game unbeaten run.

PROBABLE LINEUPS:

SAF....Marching on.
Manchester United:
Sir Alex Ferguson will not risk either Ashley Young or Jonny Evans for this match. The 71 year old has more than enough in his Arsenal to shoot down Southampton. Rio Ferdinand, RVP, Nemanja Vidic and Shinji Kagawa are expected to return. DDG keeps his place (maybe)

DDG, RDS, Rio, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Cleverley, Kagawa/Nnai, Valencia/Welbeck, Rooney, RVP

POCHETTINO: The SHERIFF
Southampton:
Mauricio Pochettino most certainly will retain the same 11 that played so well against Everton which means there's no place for recent capture, Vegard Forren who arrived from Ole Solskjaer's Molde.

Boruc, Clyne, Yoshida, Hooiveld, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Cork, Ramirez, Puncheon, G.D Prado, Lambert.

EL COPA-CLASICO...THE PREVIEW!

On Sunday, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 3 v Getafe at midday. Hours later, Leo Messi went one better, scoring a quartet of goals against Osasuna in a 5-1 win. With 7 goals between them, this has set up one of the most exhilarating Clasicos of all time.

Real Madrid have taken the CDR seriously especially after their dismal start to the Spanish League campaign. This represents one of the two remaining chances to win something worthwhile this season.

Form is on both sides at the moment. Even with the absence of Tito Vilanova (who's away in the States for his Cancer treatment), the Blaugrana have qualified for the semi-finals of the Copa Del Rey and stretched their lead at the top of La Liga to 11 points after closest rivals, Atletico were bashed by Bilbao at San Mames.

The 'whites' of Real Madrid haven't been far behind their nearest rivals form-wise. They earned a good draw v Valencia at the Mestalla to set up the first Clasico of 2013. Then on Saturday, they put four past neighbours, Getafe in match that only sprang to life in the 2nd half. The introduction of in-form Germany international, Sami Khedira was the catalyst behind their resurgence. Today will be a different ball game. The Merengues are without Captain and NO 1, Iker Casillas (whose 41 Clasico appearances is second to none), defensive rocks, Sergio Ramos and Pepe, Fabio Coentrao and Di Maria, both of whom are suspended after their dismissals in Valencia. In fairness, Pepe and Sergio Ramos haven't been missed. In their absence, the capital club have conceded just 1 goal in their last 6 games (although Ramos came back at the weekend). Raul Albiol, Raphael Varane and outcast, Ricardo Caravalho have all come in and done fantastic ever since. Up front, CR7 is a man inspired. After losing the BALON D'oR to Messi, he has scored for fun ever since and his 10 this month is the highest total of any footballer in Europe's top 5 Leagues. Even EL Pulga (Messi) is behind..not far though-9. The constant headache since Pipita's return from injury is who to start between him and Benzema. Mourinho alternates between both World Class competitors match after match. Luka Modric hasn't exactly accustomed himself to the playing style of the Blancos, but he is immensely talented and has shown that in splashes this term. Xabi Alonso gives his awesome best when called upon every time and will be expected to lead the team to victory in the absence of San Iker and Sergio Ramos. A certain German playmaker, Mesut Ozil has come in leaps and bounds throughout his exceptional Madrid Career and is the player who has given the most assists to Cristiano in his career. Ricardo Kaka has never been on Mourinho's good books and his frequent omission from recent team sheets is a concern to the 07 World Footballer of the year. On a good day, he is still one of the best footballers in the World and has shown that many a time.

Barcelona are not the best team in the World for nothing. They sit a mammoth 15 points ahead of Real Madrid in the La Liga standings, have qualified for the CDR semis and have lost only one of their 21 League games this season. A game they led by 2 goals until Chori Castro and co ruined the party. In EL MESSIAS,  they have the best player of the last four years and his 44 goals this season has been more astounding than Montpellier's Ligue 1 triumph last season. 33 League goals in 21 games is a staggering stat. 12 ahead of CR7 who is about the only footballer that can compete with the magic he possesses. As if this isn't enough worry. Andres Iniesta, who's undisputedly the 3rd best player in the World, has improved tremendously in the last 5 months, giving assists like they are going extinct. 33 year old Xavi has performed really well also and the triumvirate are wonderfully armed to the teeth. Pedro Rodriguez is also in superb form and has cleared any doubts that exist about his rise. Alexis Sanchez has deteriorated to an irritating and indecisive footballer and this hasn't gone down well with fans who responded positively to his purchase two years ago. David 'EL GUAJE' Villa is in a happy mood. The birth of his son Luca should motivate him to put on a show this evening at the Bernabeu. Gerard Pique is also a happy father and will be called upon to help out in the defence. The task of stopping CR7 will be a herculean one though, but not impossible.

Mourinho and Tito Vilanova

Jose Mourinho will be hoping that Real Madrid's recent good form v Barcelona continues tonight. The 'Super Coppa' earlier this season proved that the WHITES can match the Catalan giants in all areas of the pitch. The Portuguese great who turned 50 on Saturday will love a belated birthday present especially against a team he hasn't had so much to smile about in his phenomenal career to date.

Football god, Messi will be hoping to break Alfredo Di Stefano's record haul of 18 goals in Clasico meetings. With 2 goals tonight, the Argentine skipper will be the new record holder with 19. He has never scored a CDR goal against Real Madrid, but he has tormented them in other competitions. His arch rival, Cristiano Ronaldo will be hoping to extend his record of scoring in consecutive Clasicos which currently stands at 6 and also go further up the table in the list of all time Clasico goal scorers (He has 10). Today has the makings of greatness and rest assured, we won't have anything short of what we are expecting. In 221 meetings between the pair, the hosts have 88 wins to Barca's 87. The other 46 ending in draws. Their last meeting three months ago ended in an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou with talismen, Ronaldo and Messi grabbing 2 apiece. THIS IS WAR.

PROBABLE STARTING LINEUPS:
REAL MADRID: Diego Lopez, Arbeloa/Essien, Albiol, Varane, Marcelo, Khedira, Alonso, Modric, Ozil, CR7, Benz

BARCELONA: Pinto, Dani Alves, Pique, Mascherano/Puyol, Alba/Adriano, Busquets, Xavi, Fabregas, Iniesta, Messi, Pedro

ROD LAVER ARENA PRESENTS TO YOU NOVAK VS MUZZA.....THE FINAL.

The Australian Open final is here again and it is as you were in the previous slam final...NOVAK DJOKOVIC V old friend, ANDY MURRAY, It is the Brit's 6th Grand Slam final and his first as a major champion. It is his third on the lawns of ROD LAVER and his 2nd straight slam final. Improvements and surge are two very excellent words in Murray's Career at the moment. The 2012 Olympic Gold Medallist and US Open Champion will hope that he is third time lucky when the final is decided in the early hours of Sunday.

Serbian warrior and World Number one is no small competitor. A man who impeccably dethroned Rafael Nadal, winning 7 straight finals against the Spanish great in that span, is some Champion and he has done it again, A third consecutive Australian Open final and his 4th in 5 years is something only a few have attained and a select few have bettered. Since 2011, the Djoker has reached 7 grand slam finals out of 9 contested. The only ones that eluded him were the '11 French Open Final (lost to King Roger in the semis) and the '12 Wimbledon Final (Lost to King Roger again in the semis). Out of the previous 6, he won 4 and lost 2 ('12 French Open to Rafa Nadal who prevented him from completing the Career Grand Slam and the US Open Final of four months ago-lost to tomorrow's opponent, Andy Murray).

Novak leads Andy 10-7 H-2-H and won 4 of their 7 meetings in 2012, although the Scot won the Olympic semi-finals and the US OPEN final. In terms of Slam Finals, Djokovic has beaten Murray in one and the latter returned the favour at Flushing Meadows, New York to claim his maiden slam. Djokovic has identical records with Murray in Slam Finals. Asides beating themselves, only KING Roger and Rafa Nadal have defeated Novak in Grand Slam finals and only Federer has got the better of Murray in finals too (Murray has  never played Rafa in a major final (Grand Slam that is).

Murray had a relatively easy ride en route to the title match on Sunday. It could be said that apart from the semi-final win v King Roger, his other opponents were lightweight (respect to Simon and co). Djokovic on the other hand played some scintillating tennis along the way to oust Stan Wawrinka in the 4th Round (5 sets) and blast past Spanish beast, David Ferrer in straight sets for the loss of only 5 games. A beat down  of the highest quality. Djokovic is the fresher of the pair and his mental strength has gained mettle in recent years. He can go the distance now and force you to play his way.

Murray will take heart from his fire cracking display v the GOAT federer in their semi-final duel and also the final against Nole in New York. He has the talent and ability to beat Novak and hoist his first Australian Open crown and second Grand Slam Title Overall. Ivan Lendl has given the Olympic Champion a new lease of life since he became his coach and completely change his mentality and game. His fitness and playing methods have excelled in no small measure thanks to the Czech Tennis Legend.

Something of a Rivalry is brewing and whether it will be as pulsating and nerve racking as the FEDAL (Federer-Nadal) rivalry remains to be seen. We look forward to a riveting match.

F.A CUP WEEKEND..MANCHESTER UNITED-FULHAM....THE PREVIEW!

Man Utd.Fulham

Bulgarian Superstar, Dimitar Berbatov returns to his old stomping ground this evening as his Fulham team take on former employers, Manchester United in an F.A Cup 4th Round tie that has the makings of a tasty encounter. Its been 10 whole years since a Junichi Inamoto inspired Cottagers inflicted a painful loss on the red army. They wouldn't mind another victory later this evening.

Fulham boss, Martin Jol holds the unenviable record of NEVER recording a win in all competitions against Sir Alex Ferguson. It hurts the Dutchman when he's reminded of that by pressmen every time it is Manchester United he next faces. He will go all out tonight in the hope that he snatches his first win over the red devils and it will even be more pleasing at the Theatre of Dreams.

The likes of Giorgos Karagounis, John Arne Riise, Bryan Ruiz, Hugo Rodallega, Steve Sidwell, Brade Hangeland, and DIMITAR BERBATOV will be motivated as ever to send Manchester United out of the Cup and qualify for the 5th Round. Easier said than done as they are aware of how daunting a task it is to beat Manchester United, talk more of doing it on their home turf.

The red devils, just back from their 4 day break in Doha-Qatar,are raring to go. Still reeling from the last gasp equaliser they conceded at the Lane six days ago, the team will want to put things right today v the men from West London. David De Gea was heavily criticised for being at fault for Clint Dempsey's goal on Saturday, but will be expected to keep his place this evening except Fergie wants to reshuffle the pack with one eye on Southampton on Wednesday.

Sir Alex was absent from the trip to the far east. He stayed back to attended Celtic Legend, Sean Fallon's Funeral and tie up the deal to bring Wilfried Zaha to Manchester United. Goals he achieved with Distinction. The Ivory Coast born attacker is heading to Old Trafford in July after an agreement was reached with present club, Crystal Palace on Friday.

The Red devils have both form and history on their side as they haven't lost in two months and sit atop the EPL table with a 5-point cushion over Manchester City. The F.A Cup is a different kettle of Fish as it springs surprises season after season.

PROBABLE LINE UPS

MANCHESTER UNITED
SAF will be without Darren Fletcher (out for the season), Jonny Evans (Hamstring) and Ashley Young (knee). Asides these, he has a full squad to choose from, but might rest one of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic who have to be used wisely as very important fixtures come along in the next couple of weeks.

Lindegaard/DDG, Rafa/Jones, Vidic, Smalling, Buttner, Carrick, Scholes, Valencia, Nani, Kagawa/Rooney, RVP.

FULHAM
Dutchman, Jol will be without the services of Simon Davies (neck), Kerim Frei (groin) and Mahamadou Diarra who is still recuperating. Others have been passed fit with a clean bill of health.

Schwarzer, Riether, Hughes, Hangeland, Richardson, Duff, Karagounis, Sidwell, Kacaniklic, Ruiz, BERBATOV.

SIZZLING SUNDAY IN THE OFFING....THE PREVIEW OF CFC-AFC AND Spurs-MUFC.

Another Super Sunday is upon us. The last one was spellbinding and thought provoking..Simply irresistible stuff from all the teams involved. Although the 2nd match was blighted by some inexplicable defensive howler by Arsenal's Laurent Koscielny, it was still a great game. Well, that is past now. On the next one.

Tomorrow's DOUBLE HEADER pitches two London rivals (West and North) against each other and another London team against the red army of Manchester. The first match is to be staged at Stamford Bridge where the Landlords haven't found it all smooth sailing in recent weeks. Chelsea and Rafael Benitez dropped 2 points v the relentless Saints who have a new manager now in 20-cap retired Argie CB, Mauricio Pochettino  (famously nicknamed the Sheriff in Spain) and that is just one of a string of poor results they have had. Visitors, Arsenal have been on a rough ride lately, with the last League match leaving a sour taste in the mouths of the Gunners' faithful. Defeat to Manchester City and the manner in which it was inflicted upon left Arsene Wenger embittered and stunned. Despite beating Swansea in Midweek (F.A CUP Replay) and getting Theo Walcott to sign a new contract, the Frenchman will be looking for a swift response when his wards travel to West London- a ground they are well familiar with and had success there last season when a certain Robin Van Persie struck a hat-trick on the way to a 5-3 win.

Rafa Benitez is under immense pressure at CFC. He would do everything humanly possible to win over the Blues' faithful as they have no ounce of love/loyalty/support for him. It is even made worse by the 16th minute (every match) rapturous applause by the fans for Champions League and F.A Cup winning Roberto Di Matteo who, in their eyes, was wrongly dismissed by Owner, Roman Abramovich. Results haven't exactly gone his way either. Save for some awe-inspiring performances v Aston Villa et al, there have been some dampeners...worst of all, the World Club Cup Final defeat to TITE's Corinthians in Japan. Juan Mata has been phenomenal this season and alongside Steven Gerrard,  has assisted the most goals in the League this season (8).  He has also weighed in with 7 League goals and he is the main threat to the Arsenal team come tomorrow. Senegalese power-packed striker, Demba Ba scored his 1st League goal on Wednesday v Southampton and will be looking to continue in that fashion. He has already faced Arsenal this season for Newcastle and knows very well how to put goals past them. Fernando Torres is misfiring after everyone thought he had found his best form with the coming of the man who lured him to ENGLAND. In truth, he has been a disappointment. Inspirational captain, John Terry could return to the starting 11 after sitting out the Southampton game.

Arsene's Arsenal will be fuming at the loss of vice captain and midfield lynch pin, Mikael Arteta to injury just before the Manchester City game amid further bad news after the loss that he will be out for three weeks. He will however be buoyed by the return of Abou Diaby and the breathtaking form of Jack Wilshere, whose brilliant goal knocked the Swans out of the F.A CUP in midweek. Santi Cazorla has relaxed a little bit, but you never discount a WORLD CLASS footballer's contribution...do that at your own peril. Olivier Giroud will hope to be back among the goals tomorrow and Theo Walcott will expect to celebrate his new contract with a fine performance. The defensive pairing of Per and Vermaelen can snuff out any attacking threat CFC will pose if they are at the peak of their powers.

PROBABLE LINE-UPS
CHELSEA: Cech, Ivanovic, Terry, Luiz, Cole, Ramires, Lmapard, Oscar, Mata, Hazard, Torres,
ARSENAL: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Diaby, Wilshere, Cazorla, Walcott, Giroud, Podolski

PREDICTION- A 1-1 draw or 2-1 Arsenal.

SPURS-MANCHESTER UNITED

The second match of the day kicks off at White Hart Lane between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. The reverse fixture at Old Trafford saw the lilywhites claim their first win in 23 years in that stadium and they are confident that they can secure an unlikely double over the League Leaders. In Gareth Bale, they possess one of the best players in the League and he has shown this season that he can even be as good as the best players in the World. His hat-trick at Villa Park in addition to other superb showings at various times are testament to that fact. Jermain Defoe is on fire as well and the form of Aaron Lennon is even scarier. The diminutive winger has expressed himself in the most spectacular manner as the season has worn on. Bale and Lennon are easily the best wingers in the EPL at the moment and will definitely give Rafael Da Silva and Patrice Evra one hell of a game tomorrow. The back line of Vertonghen and Dawson is water tight and have to be at their extreme best to keep out the returning Wazza and RVP from scoring.

Andre Villas-Boas was in one of his happiest ever moods when his boys left Old Trafford with all 3 points the last time they met. His managerial acumen will be called upon to ensure Spurs do all they can to defeat the red devils again.

The Red Army of Manchester United are in such excellent form. 9 VICTORIES out of 10 and 26 goals scored is astonishingly exquisite. It is the goal concession rate that is a thing of concern. The return of Nemanja Vidic has helped shore up the defence in the last few games and Sir Alex will be glad that his Captain is in contention to feature in this crucial match. With Manchester City closing the gap earlier in the day after putting 2 past a hapless Fulham, the RED DEVILS cannot afford to slack in their own assignment. It is win or nothing for the 19-time English Champions.  West Ham were sent out of the cup on Wednesday in a replay that saw the return of many 1st teamers including Wayne Rooney and Luis Nani who has missed the last 16 games.

SAF was angered by the way Rooney fluffed his lines when taking a 2nd half penalty in midweek and suggested that he took a cue from S'ampton's Rickie Lambert who has converted 31 out of 31 spot kicks. That was the 10th penalty Wazza had lost since he started taking them. Not one to reckon with at all.

Spurs must pay special attention to former player, Michael Carrick who has been MUFC's best player this season. Of course, the likes of Van Persie and Rooney who between them boast of 24 Premier League goals and 13 assists need no introduction and the whites of North London have it all to do in their attempts to curtail them. Another threat, unlikely before this season, is Patrice Evra...Together with Jonny Evans, 7 goals have been accounted for. His forays into the  opposition area this term has yielded the right results and if not keenly and properly watched, can inflict untold damage as the match progresses.

Sir Alex is an old campaigner. He knows how to defeat any team in the Premier League and hasn't lost at the Lane in 11 meetings. He is very aware of the threat the lilywhites pose and has everything at his disposal to match them player for player, talent for talent. Another victory will be expected...whether comprehensive or hard fought.

PROBABLE LINE-UPS
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR: Lloris, Walker, Vertonghen, Dawson, Naughton, Parker, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Lennon, Bale, Defoe.
MANCHESTER UNITED: DDG, Rafa, Rio, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Cleverley, Kagawa, Nani/Valencia, Wazza, RVP

PREDICTION: An outright Manchester United win...am probably biased.

Pep to BAYERN...A story well played out.

There have been rumours spreading like wild fire since the beginning of this week that former Barcelona player/manager and history maker, Josep 'Pep' Guardiola will take over from current Bayern Munich coach, Jupp Heynckes at the end of the season. The speculations were becoming stronger by every passing minute and doubts were put to bed when the German giants announced on Wednesday that indeed Mr Guardiola was to become their next manager cum the end of the season. It was a decision well applauded by a few...but many were astonished that the former Spanish midfield pearl chose the Bavarian outfit over the likes of CFC and Manchester City. He (Pep) even stated his desire to manage in England one day since he never had the opportunity to ply his trade there as a player. Bubble bursting news for all EPL followers.

There was some outrage on the announcement by Bayern re:: Guardiola. Nevertheless, his former charges at Barcelona like Captain, Carles Puyol and GK, Jose Pinto gave him their full backing and all the support he ever needs to succeed at the very demanding Bundesliga outfit. However, even more despairing was the extreme displeasure shown by a very strong, passionate and dedicated Bayern Munchen fan from Bulgaria called Vasil Kotsev(@jmliak). Haven temporarily retired (in his own words) his twitter account well over 6 months ago, he brought it outta retirement Wednesday night for a few hours to express his utter disgust at the appointment of Pep Guardiola. Below are the points he raised on why he's not in the least pleased with the Gaurdiola capture.

@jmliak-  I am going to bring this account out of retirement for a few tweets, because there are some things that need to be said today..

@jmliak-  Bayern probably made their biggest mistake (signing Gaurdiola for next season) since appointing Jurgen Klinsmann back in 2008

@jmliak-   I am going to outline why I think so, and everyone is welcome to try and counter any of my points. I actually look forward to that.

@jmliak-   Point 1: Pep good for youth players? Out of the 10 youth players he introduced, only 1 (Busquets) became a regular at Barcelona.

@jmliak-  Point 2: Pep is awful at transfers. Hleb, Ibra, Sanchez, Mascherano, Villa, Chygrynsky, Fab. Dani Alves is his best buy- enough said. Sold Eto'o

@jmliak-  Point 3: Pep doesn't work with out and out strikers. Ruined Villa's career, nearly did the same to Ibra. Bayern currently have 3 pure strikers now.

@jmliak-  Point 4: Pep did not build this Barca team. Pep inherited Van Gaal and Rijkaard's team, and despite his efforts, he did not change much.

@jmliak-  Point 5: Pep didn't make Xavi world class. Xavi really is a late bloomer, and he was only given a chance when Deco left. Hardly Pep's accomplishment.

@jmliak-  Point 6: Pep doesn't use wingers and they eventually leave. Hleb and Sanchez to name just two. Bayern have Ribery, Robben, Shaqiri and Muller.

@jmliak-  Point 7: Pep has ;little to no input in FCB's success. He stumbled upon the best midfield and the best attacker. All he needed to do is field them.

@jmliak-  Point 8: Pep just sat and watched games for free on the bench. He's a zero tactically and couldn't do anything when the going got tough.

@jmliak-  Point 9: When Messi did not play well and Pep faced a coach who actually has a clue, he was helpless. Hiddink and Mourinho just 2 of them.

@jmliak-  Point 10: Under Pep, Barca turned into a limited team in which 10 players supported one. Each time Messi was shut out, Barca lost.

@jmliak-  Point 11: If Bayern wanted possession football and youth players, they would have stayed with Van Gaal. He is better than Pep in every aspect.

@jmliak- Point 12: Pep does not know German. No quality coach would agree to work in a country and not know the language (Quoting Mourinho here).

@jmliak-  Point 13: Bayern need a coach that has tactical ability and win-at-any-cost attitude. They needed Mourinho, not Pep. Should have waited 6 months.

@jmliak-  Point 14: Jupp worked really hard to build a team that is Multi-dimensional and flexible. Pep will be the end of that. Bayern shouldn't be Barca.

@jmliak-  Point 15: Pep is about to work with a man thrice more stubborn, forceful, and influential than him.- Sammer. Good luck with that.

@jmliak-  Point 16: Probably the biggest proof that Pep was a pawn at Barca is that his assistant is doing better than him so far in the League.

The 16 points above are just off the top of Mr Vasil's head as he put it, but some are very valid and well constructed, although I personally disagree with a few, I sincerely am with him for the first 3 points. Point 4 has some truth in it, but someone has to inherit a team. He (Pep) changed the team wholly and brought a new winning mentality to the set-up and made them very very difficult to beat...Van Gaal and Frank's teams didn't embody that.

Point 5 is what I kept hitting on in 2008. Xavi only became Barcelona's main midfield man when Anderson 'DECO' De Souza left. The Barcelona no 6 emerged from Deco's shadow to establish himself as not only a mainstay in the Blaugrana team, but the fulcrum. So Pep just monitored the situation and supported the motion.

Point 6 is a fact. But where I think Mr Kotsev is wrong is the tagging of Muller as a pure winger. In a 4-3-3 format (Pep's favoured strategy), Muller is a wig forward/left sided striker and can easily adapt to the Guardiola master plan (however and whenever it changes) because he is a technically gifted footballer. Same goes for Robben, Ribery and Shaqiri.

Mr Vasil was too angry to think straight when he was tweeting point 7. Pep is pivotal to whatever Barcelona are and will be in future. He totally brought a new meaning to tiki-taka and atttacking football. He transformed good players to great players and is the reason why Messi is regarded as one of the best footballers in History. He is the focal point of football transformation in modern times. He is that revered.

Point 8 is absolute nonsense. Arrant balderdash. If Pep wasn't tactically adept, he wouldn't have won the staggering number of titles in his time at the Catalan club. As for point 9, it is a matter of opinion really. I do not quite agree with it. Pep has a dominant record v Mourinho....Hiddink floored him tactically though.

Point 10 is a half truth. Messi was the main beneficiary of the Guardiola ideology. Pep's Barcelona teams were built around the Argie great...that was why Eto'o and Ibra were shipped off. Leo was always the main man and that was Pep's thing.

Point 11 shows that Mr Vasil hasn't really forgiven Uli, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (KHR) and Franz Beckenbauer for showing Louis Van Gaal (LVG) the exit door. But saying Van Gaal is better than Pep in every aspect is going over the top. Possession football? Spare me that. In Guardiola's 247 games as Barcelona manager, Hi side out-possessed every team they faced. An unreal statistic. In terms of promoting youth players, only a few have/can  bettered/better Mr Van Gaal...Andres Iniesta is eternally grateful to the Dutch managerial Legend for whatever he is today, and many other greats who were given a chance by LVG.

Point 12 is easily the most trivial. Pep is taking over the Reds in 6 months. That should be more than enough time to learn some German, No intelligent and well trained soldier goes to war unprepared and Josep is too super to falter in that respect.

Point 13 is also sheepishly mundane and daft (with all due respect). Pep knows how to win and it is only after next season, we can begin to judge him based on what he has done right or wrong. Mourinho is a class act, so is Guardiola.

Point 14 sees Mr Kotsev showing sympathy for the departing Fohlen Legend, Jupp Heynckes. Yes, he has made the Bayern team multi-dimensional and bla bla bla...But the Football World is a harsh place as seen with Julio Cesar Falcioni's  dismissal at Boca and EL PELADO Almeyda's at the Monumental (River Plate). These are just a few examples of how Managers are shipped off at the slightest provocation, not minding what they have won or/and done. Sean O'Driscoli's at NFFC is a recent one. About the phrase/statement- 'Bayern shouldn't be Barca'. That's the idea right....Sammer and his team want Pep to make DIE ROTEN unbeatable and unplayable like Barca were in his four years at the helm. Mr Vasil should take a chill pill here.

Point 15 shouldn't really be a problem. Sammer is stubborn, headstrong, strong-willed and very influential. Other Football Directors have been worse attitude-wise and still managed to get along with their coaches. Pep and Matias will come good for the sake of Bayern Munich and who knows? They might become the best of friends. Life is unpredictable you know.

Point 16 is more or less laughable. 'The end justifies the means' they say. Pep was La Liga Champion 3 of the 4 years he was at the Nou Camp and whichever way he started out every league season is inconsequential as long as he reached his set objectives. I like the phrase-'so far'...As the League is still on. Don't get me wrong..Tito has been exceptional 'so far'...not yet 'so good'

All in all, PEP GUARDIOLA's return to Football has been saluted by majority of us as a welcome relief and we hope he does very well at the ALLIANZ ARENA. Wish you the Best Josep the Great.

Opinions/Views are humbly welcome. Please state your minds in the comment box.

OLD TRAFFORD F.A CUP REPLAY...Something of a revenge mission for MANCHESTER UNITED against the Hammers...THE PREVIEW!

Manchester United fans have RVP to thank for sparing the club from yet another disastrous F.A Cup campaign when he popped up in the last minute of normal time to secure a REPLAY and another chance to qualify fro the 4th Round.

The red devils, fresh from adding another three points to their EPL total at the weekend v arch rivals, Liverpool, will want to take revenge on West Ham fro knocking them out of the World's Oldest Cup Competition in 2001 thanks to a Paolo Di Canio goal. Sir Alex Ferguson will have a relatively full squad to pick from for tonight's crucial encounter. Essential because its been 9 years since MUFC last won the F.A Cup and the hunger to be victorious again is the added motivation this term.

The likes of Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand who have never won the F.A CUP-(Ashley Cole of CFC has won 7) will be fired up for this particular game. The former who is coming back from a short injury layoff will see this game as a chance to get back into reckoning for future games and regain form/fitness. Sir Alex will shuffle the pack as he has one eye on the very important meeting with Spurs at WHL on Sunday.

West Ham on the other hand, will hope James Collins recovers from injury and rekindles the form that saw him power two unstoppable headers past David De Gea in the Manchester United goal. They were in fact on the verge of scoring an important rare victory over their more illustrious opponents until Giggs-RVP came to the rescue for Sir Alex's charges. Big Sam will even be more encouraged by the return of Momo Diame who has been the Hammers' best player this season. He had a fine game in the League fixture earlier this season and will carry the hopes of Est London in a few hours. The return of Joe Cole will further bolster the attacking verve of the East London outfit. His 2 assists were the reason why West Ham led until the last minute 10 days ago. Marouane Chamakh, Wellington Paulista et al will also be raring to go tonight at the Theatre. If Collins loses his fitness battle, then New Zealand's Winston Reid will play in his stead.

Manchester United will most likely be without Captain Nemanja Vidic, Ashley Young and Jonny Evans who have minor injuries and have to be monitored closely. But the return of Nani, Anderson and Wazza might prove to be an added incentive for the red army. It is the Centre of defence that might be of concern to SAF...the goal concession rate has been a source of worry and it may continue tonight as Evans and Vidic, all towering CBs are out. Smalling must play out of his mind today to ensure MUFC book a date with Fulham in the 4th Round.

Probable Starting 11

MANCHESTER UNITED: DDG, Jones, Smalling, Rio, Buttner, Anderson, Carrick, Valencia/Kagawa, Nani, Rooney, Chicharito.

WEST HAM: Jussi, Demel, Collins, Tomkins, Potts, Diame/Diarra, Noble, Collison, J.Cole, Nolan, C.Cole

JOSE MOURINHO:Why he's hands down the best coach in the WORLD

No other manager would have wrested the title away from the Nou Camp with such excellence. No other manager would have risen from a 5-0 defeat in the hands of your greatest adversaries to win the Copa Del Rey against the same rival team. Jose Mourinho is a man of many parts, but one that cannot be given if not earned is DISCIPLINE and an INSATIABLE HUNGER FOR UNPARALLELLED SUCCESS. The 'only one' as he is affectionately/annoyingly called now is blessed with the aforementioned.

From Portugal to England to Italy to Spain, Jose Mario has won just about everything. He accepts any challenge whatsoever and takes pleasure and pride in shattering any record that has for long seemed unattainable/unblemished. It is not as if he does it effortlessly...but he achieves honours gracefully and ruthlessly.

My assertion that he is the best coach in the Universe might be dismissed by many, but a few would agree with me nonetheless. The Portuguese tactician is no respecter of anyone no matter what status you hold or position you occupy. All he is driven by is the will and ability to succeed at all times. That makes a great manager. Who would have the temerity to push out a club's greatest ever player (possibly) and highest ever goalscorer (RAUL BLANCO) on arrival? Who would engage in a power tussle with a club legend and former manager (Jorge Valdano) and come out victorious? What manner of man would manage a club strictly on his own terms in this present day and age? The answer to all these question is the man we are currently discussing about, JOSE MOURINHO. The treble winning former Inter Milan boss embodies absolute success and willpower. His decisions are without sentiments and he bares his mind whenever he can and most times, he is on point.

A couple of weeks ago, Mourinho sprang an early Christmas surprise by starting Real Madrid's NO 2 Goalkeeper, Antonio Adan in place of SPAIN AND REAL MADRID CAPTAIN, NUMBER ONE GOALIE and Legend, Iker Casillas in the match against Malaga at the Rosaleda which the 'whites' lost. It sparked a furore all over the World as it was the first time in well over 10 years that Iker the SAINT had failed to be in the Blancos starting line-up. Jose was unfazed by the high level of criticism(s) levelled at him. He had made his decision and whatever the public felt meant absolutely nothing to him. After all, they weren't in the know concerning events at the Valdebebas  (Madrid's training facility). What happened after that was expected as former players, pundits, teammates of Iker, etc aired their views regarding the situation. The general consensus was that there was a great deal of friction between Mourinho and his players, especially Iker and Sergio Ramos who he had earlier benched this season in a crucial CL tie v Manchester City (Raphael Varane took his place in the starting 11). Some were also of the opinion that Jose was infuriated by Iker's constant backing of fellow Spaniards (Barcelona players) instead of the Merengues for whom he owes his exceptional career to date. In that light, Iker feels as skipper of the National Team, his duty is to promote unity and togetherness and I agree with him. But the decision to start Adan rather than THE GREAT Iker had very little to do with the animosity that exists between Coach and Captain. It is Casillass' form that has dwindled in recent weeks and the Portuguese manager felt he needed a break, No one is a believer of that school of thought.

Only a handful of managers would have had the boldness to take such an important step and Mourinho is the esteemed Leader of the lot. Not afraid to strike when it matters, the tactically astute managerial genius has proved countless number of times why he remains one of the greatest managers to grace the World of football with his spot-on decisions and marvellous decisiveness. He may be a massive 18 points behind Barcelona, but his impact at the Bernabeu is something that might never be replicated. That discipline and exemplary show of mental strength he consistently shows is a unique attribute of GREAT MANAGERs and his greatness is assured.

BIG GAME TIME...Another Manchester United - Liverpool clash....THE PREVIEW!

Forget about EL CLASICO (Real Madrid- Barcelona), THE SUPER CLASICO (Boca-River), DE KLASSIEKER ( Ajax -Feyenoord) etc, the biggest game in World Football is MANCHESTER UNITED V LIVERPOOL and luckily for all of us, football lovers, it is going down this weekend at the City of Manchester (Sunday afternoon).

Matches of this magnitude are always feisty and hotly contested because of the history and pride involved. When Sir Alex Ferguson took over at Manchester United, his long time ambition was to knock Liverpool off their f-king perch as he termed it that time and domestically, he has done that, leading MUFC to 12 EPL successes. Now the red part of Manchester have one more domestic title than Liverpool....something that was seemingly unassailable 20 years ago. However, the Merseysiders still lead the way in Europe with 5 European Cups to their arch rivals 3. Something Ferguson has remained distraught about.

But the most puzzling of all, is Liverpool's failure to collect at least one of the 20 EPL titles since 1992 when the old English Division cup was renamed. A record that has astonished everyone connected with the reigning CAPITAL ONE CUP Champions. This season won't be any different as they find themselves a massive 21 points adrift of 1st place which is currently occupied by bitter foes, Manchester United....except Hiroshima repeats itself. The top 4 is some distance away.`

Manchester United go into the game on Sunday in fearsome form and will be determined more than ever to pile more misery on Brendan Rodgers' men. Despite the absence of the talismanic Wayne Rooney, Sir Alex has the lethal Robin Van Persie to call on for the much needed firepower. A situation that would have been seen as problematic last season. Jonny Evans is in the form of his life and Nemanja Vidic is slowly getting back to his best. Michael Carrick has been monumental this term and will hope to bring his best into this encounter. Rafa Da Silva has been a revelation and Patrice Evra's four goals have come in handy. David De Gea is fast becoming that exceptional goal tender we all expected him to be and all in all, the team has what it takes to trouble Liverpool.

Liverpool and Steven Gerard know all about Manchester United and it will be no surprise that they are all pumped for this particular duel. Apart from the burning rage that emanates from Manchester United's recent successes in contrary to their failures and near misses, the bad blood that exists between Patrice Evra and Luis Suarez might be rekindled on Sunday. Despite all of us praying that it will not rear its ugly head.

Football wise, the team from the North West of England haven't done so well, so far. A club of Liverpool's stature should be sitting among the elite of the EPL..but that has not been the case for a few years now. It has been more or less, a rotten last 2 or 3 seasons for them. They find themselves in 8th place which is absolutely disappointing. But their consolation is the fat that Luis Suarez the Gunslinger is firing. The Uruguayan has 19 goals this season overall and his 15 strikes in the Premier League is 2nd only to the aforementioned Man United predator, RVP (16). Vidic and co will have to keep a close eye on him if they are to claim victory on Sunday.

The game will be officiated by the controversial Howard Webb who is among the very best referees in the game. He officiated the '10 Champions League final and later the World Cup final in the same year. Liverpool fans were infuriated on hearing the announcement as they have never fared well against their fierce rivals when Webb is the centre.

Martin Skrtel and his defensive partners will have to be at their best to tame the viciousness in attack of RVP, Chicharito, Kagawa etc to have even the slightest chance of claiming at least a draw at Old Trafford on Sunday. Jonjo Shelvey if fielded, must behave much better than his previous outing v the red devils a few months ago and learn to keep his mouth shut. New signing, Daniel Sturridge will have one or two things to prove if fielded from the start. Jamaican-English teenage sensation, Raheem Sterling will also hope to impress a few more people with his trickery and outstanding brilliance.

The game will be keenly watched by observers all over the World and it has the makings of an extraordinary occasion and we sincerely hope that some unscrupulous tramps don't spoil the fun.

PROBABLE STARTING 11 FOR BOTH TEAMS:

MUFC--- DDG, Rafa, Evans, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Cleverley, Valencia/Kagawa, Young, RVP, Chicharito

LIVERPOOL--- Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Downing, Lucas, Henderson, Stevie G, Sterling, Suarez, Sturridge.

RVP....the best decision Sir Alex ever made?

Manchester United sit atop the EPL table comfortably looking down on the other 19 teams in the division thanks largely to the influential and sometimes breathtaking displays of a certain Dutch import, Robin Van Persie. It was like tales by moonlight when it was announced five months ago that RVP had agreed to join Manchester United from arch-rivals, Arsenal. Difficult as it was to believe, it was the reality of things. Another masterstroke by Sir Alex Ferguson, the evergreen warlord of the red army.

Arsenal fans ranted and raved....but that did not stop their beloved captain from following his heart. At his formal presentation as an MUFC player, he declared that the little boy in him told him to join the 19 time English Champions, even though noisy neighbours, Manchester City offered more money. It has been the best decision of his career yet and he has since not regretted it.

There have been masterclass signings....from Eric Cantona, the undisputed king of the Theatre of Dreams....to Cristiano Ronaldo who Fergie transformed to become the Best player on the planet, but the RVP deal might just top them all.  Sir Alex was enraged not only by the way Man Utd threw away the title last time out, but that it was won by goal difference. He made his move to buy an established World Class footballer to help out with the attacking frailties (even though Wayne Rooney came up with 27 league goals last season). English superstar, Wayne Rooney has been about the only one carrying the burden of the United attack on his broad shoulders, until a certain little pea was unearthed in Mexico.. Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez  took some of the weight off Wazza (Rooney), but Fergie wasn't satisfied. The Record buy in MUFC history, Dimitar Berbatov became a bit part player and had to be shipped off, just as 01 Balon d'Or winner, Michael Owen was released. Danny Welbeck flattered to deceive, although we can excuse his immaturity because he is still learning the ropes. A tested and top quality forward had to be brought in to make the difference and that's exactly what ROBIN VAN PERSIE has done this season.

From his first goal v Fulham to his hat-trick at St Mary's to the last minute winner against Manchester City, the Dutchman has shown the World what he is capable of, if placed among fellow world class, goal driven, champions. His 20 goals this season includes 16 EPL strikes which puts him on top of the goalscorers' chart. The notion that he depends too much on his left foot is fast becoming an old fable as his last 3 goals for the red devils has been struck with his seemingly weaker right foot. The goal on Saturday (yesterday) against West Ham was blasted home with his right foot and that yet again, was a vital one as it ensured that Manchester United still remained in the F.A cup- a trophy SAF so desperately wants to hoist this season. It has been 9 seasons since the 3 time European Champions were crowned Champions of the World's oldest and most prestigious cup competition.

The decision to bring in RVP to the MUFC fold will go down as one of the best in Sporting history. the way the marriage has gone thus far, it will continue to blossom and yield the right results.

It will be the most fantastic p;layer purchase ever if he (Van Persie) leads the team past Real Madrid in the eagerly awaited UCL ROUND OF 16 Match up.
